Our US clients adore the Mediterranean. The ancient civilisations that have left their mark along its shores. The stunning towns, cities and fishing villages. The wonderfully hot summer weather and lovely, mild springs, autumns and winters. The friendly welcome, the multitude of different countries to explore. The cuisine, the culture, the vibe, and of course the excellent sailing. It’s all pretty hard to resist!
If you’re US-based with a mind to share a yacht in the Med, we have some great news for you. Did you know you’ll soon be able to fly direct from New York to Palma de Mallorca, the gorgeous capital city of the Spanish Balearic Islands?
Fly New York to Palma for unbeatable luxury yacht share experiences
From June 2022 the beautiful Mediterranean island of Mallorca – also spelled Majorca – will welcome around 600 US and Canadian visitors every week thanks to new United Airlines flights from New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport. The three flights a week on the cards are already filling up with bookings. This, plus the 900 or so people who’ll arrive weekly on the cruise ship Wonder of the Seas, will place Palma firmly on the tourist map for US tourists.
Andreu Serra, the Council of Mallorca’s councillor for tourism, has revealed he’s been working on promotional activities with the airline, the media, and travel agencies since early 2022, tapping into a ‘great demand’ for Mallorca holidays. He says the new flights will have a positive economic impact on Palma itself as well as the rest of the island.
The Balearics’ Aviba travel agencies association says the exchange of visitors will go both ways, thanks to equally high demand for direct flights from Palma to Newark. The fact that the flights will be year-round means a lot because it’ll liven up the traditionally-quieter low and medium holiday seasons. And the island’s boutique hotel owners are delighted, too. The news opens up quality tourism for the city, Mallorca, and the many holiday-focused destinations in the vicinity.
