On this Okean 80 yacht the Italian designer, Paolo Farragni, has taken this open-deck concept to new lengths, by effectively expanding the beam of the yacht by about 6 feet when at anchor. The result is versatile a four-stateroom motoryacht with opening side decks offering a much larger tri-deck mega-yacht feel.

You will no doubt see photographs of this unique yacht, but what is not immediately apparent is the feeling ofcomplete openness throughout the main saloon. In addition to the open side decks she has wraparound 360 degree “sea glass” views. Then there are 3 sides of sliding glass doors, the stern, the port and the starboard side walls which totally disappear when slid open. Further forward there is an additional starboard side door for easy bow access.

When everything is opened and both balconies are deployed, you are surrounded by a sense of waters’ edge infinity. All this enhances what is a fairly spectacular saloon itself, one that contains an enormous settee, a finely crafted dining area, an entertainment center, and an efficient galley.

All of the furniture and cabinetry in the salon, dining area and main-deck galley are designed to be low-profile so they won’t obstruct the view, further maximising the open-air living experience.

There is a forward bulkhead in the saloon made out of “smart” glass, which is engineered with gas trapped inside. When the panel is clear, it lets owners and guests in the salon look through it and the windshield beyond, allowing for a panoramic view of the water. When the gas inside the smart glass is activated, the bulkhead becomes opaque, creating a privacy screen between the salon/galley and the captain at the helm. You can also project the helm electronics display onto this smart glass or turn it into a massive TV screen.

The yacht also naturally blends into the sea with the beach club and multi-functional swim platform which has a hydraulic center section that raises to create a diving board or lowers to give easy walk-in entry to the water. Next to the extendable platform is a Med-style passerelle that also lifts and lowers at the touch of a button – which again doubles in its high/low functionality. The stern beach club not only facilitates the full range of water sports and tender duties, one can also expand the deck area by raising the transom cover. This exposes a sumptuous beach club settee and refreshment bar which magically appears behind from the cover, which then also includes a built-in shower and creates an extended sunshade.

The large flybridge will undoubtedly prove to be another favorite gathering spot for owners and their guests. It features a full dining area, wet bar with fridge and a forward sun lounge, along with plenty of space for additional seating. Again, it is designed to offer guests minimal visual intrusions to the sea.

The bow adds yet another versatile social expanse, with a range of seating and a choice of sunbeds or private dining, open or undercover.

With all the open-air options for entertaining and relaxing on board, it’s easy to forget that this is actually a fouren-suite stateroom motoryacht. The lower deck encompasses a full-beam master suite graced with a walk-in wardrobe, separate toilet and bathroom and huge side windows continuing the light and airy theme of the yacht. There is a forward island bed  VIP cabin, and a twin-berth guest cabin, all having their own heads. To port is an open media room that converts to the 4th en-suite stateroom when its pocket doors are closed.

Aft, there are generous quarters for up to three crew with a second galley where much of the cooking can take place – keeping cooking aromas far removed from the guests in the upper saloon galley.

The detailing, the choice of materials, and quality of finish are clearly right out of a Milan design studio. The quality is simply unmistakable. Stitched leather, wood, recessed LED lighting, and stainless-steel hardware abounds.

This yacht features a relatively neutral color palette throughout, which perfectly compliments her contemporary vibe. This is matched to a hull developed for very capable voyaging under power. The yacht can perform well in both displacement and planing modes, dependant on one’s desire to balance economy over passage-time.
